Remembering the Souls in November

During the month of November, as is tradition here in the Archdiocese of Washington, St Mary Parish will offer an All Souls Remembrance program---where we remember in our daily prayers the deceased loved ones of all those who ask us to do so. This year St. Mary Parish will be remembering the loved ones and friends in our prayers throughout the month of November. We invite you to share in our prayers by sending us the names of your deceased friends and relatives. Each deceased person and the souls of all the faithful departed in honor of All Souls Day will be remembered by Fr. Michael and those who gather in daily Masses and Sunday Masses throughout the month of November.

Before All Souls Day, November 2nd, please return the All Souls Remembrance slip with the names of people you wish us to remember in our prayers. We will keep them and you in our prayers.

Winter Coat Drive

No one should go cold this winter.  St. Mary Newport is holding a winter coat drive leading up to and through the cold months ahead.  We are accepting new or gently used winter coats for men, women, and children.  Coats may be dropped off at the church vestibule area or the parish office. When the temperature drops, many people are faced with the impossible decision between paying rent, buying food, or buying a coat that fits their child or themselves.  Your generosity and donations can eliminate this struggle and will benefit others in our local community to stay warm. For questions or to arrange a time for dropping off coats, please call the parish office at 301-934-8825.  Also, Community Bank of the Chesapeake has agreed to be a drop off site for the collection of used and new coats. They will have a drop off box at each location and will be accepting coats during the entire month of October at both of the La Plata and Charlotte Hall branches.
